Yanka Kupala Park is a relatively recent park in Minsk, which appeared in 1949. As one might know, Minsk was badly damaged during the Great Patriotic War. For example, a whole block of houses near Svisloch was destroyed during the bombing. One of the destroyed buildings was the house of Yanka Kupala, the shining light of Belarusian poetry. In the memory of the losses caused by the war, and in gratitude to the poet, it was decided to establish a park on the site of the damaged quarter.
Visitors of the Park might be interested to see the sculpture of Yanka Kupala, as well as the beautiful fountain "Wreath". Its sculpture composition represents the girls with hair fluttering in the wind, happily throwing wreaths into the water, on the day of Ivan Kupala. This cheerful fountain will be loved by anyone who sees it. The sense of beauty is reinforced by the fact that the park is kept in perfect cleanliness, and the rare species of trees planted along the tracks that are charming and beautiful.
It might also be interesting to visit the Museum, which was established in the memory of the outstanding poet by the grateful Minsk residents. The State Literary Museum of Kupala was founded in 194. Unfortunately, it was burned down during World War II. However, today the Museum is restored. Despite the loss of many manuscripts of the poet, it has many exhibits related to his work and life.
